Above Raša Bay
The countryside around Puntera, home to Villa Štefanija, is today made up mostly of wide green pastures, hills, woods, fields, meadows and caves.
Puntera sits directly above Raša Bay — a channel 12 km long and 1 km wide, where the river Raša (Latin: Arsia) flows into the sea. This is the landscape of tranquil eastern Istria, with an unforgettable view of the Kvarner islands.
The whole area around Puntera and Barban has a rich history — from the Histri and the Romans to the long Venetian rule and a strong Glagolitic tradition, visible in the frescoes of the churches of St James and St Anthony and in the 14th-century chapel of the Holy Trinity.
